2000 Boxster S, Ocean Blue This is probably the cleanest it has ever been - there were some folks selling some car cleaning stuff and they were cleaning cars for $20 or $30 (except for wheels, since this was at the track they said they didn't want to mess with any hot wheels) |
I just found this picture so I will put it here as well. Visiting the newer members of the family.

Nice looking Boxster S, Martha. Tell us a little about your first few months of ownership. We like stories......and pictures!

I just purchased it a couple of days ago and sadly it has sat in the garage since. I plan to get it out for a drive tomorrow and then I hope to hit some sporty roads next week. To tell the truth I’m a little nervous about the purchase, I’ve never thought about owning a Porsche, it was sort of like it found me instead of me finding it.

It was destiny, then! Enjoy your first drive. If you haven't done so already, take it to a well-reviewed independent Porsche mechanic. They can go over the car with an unbiased eye and tell you of anything that should be addressed - now or in the near future. If you treat it well, it will do so back at you. Good luck and post frequently - there are many great people here to help.

It's been awhile since I've posted a picture of my Lapis Blue. I spent the weekend polishing and waxing. It looks really nice right now; almost no swirl marks. It looks wet. If only I could get it to stay this way.

Looks fantastic! The Lapis Blue is such a deep color especially with a fresh polish and wax:cheers:

I was recently asked how I got my car so clean.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1472498830.jpg That kind of cleaning only happens once a year, if that. It involves: 1. washing the car 2. clay bar the car to remove surface contaminants. The car should feel smooth as glass at this point 3. 2 rounds of polish 4. wax You need to get a good polisher (not the ones from Sears). Here is a link to a good one (no affiliation with this site): Porter Cable Polisher This is probably the best value out there. Make sure you get a variety of good polishing pads, and a good polish. There are some kits on the Autogeek site that package the Porter Cable with some pads. I like the $229 kit. I use a lot of Meguiars stuff. I start with the Meguiars 105 polish then move to either the Meguiars 205 polish or Meguiars Ultimate polish. Then apply your favorite wax. Here is a good video on how to polish your car: Polshing tips Good luck Tony |
