The Sound of a Boxster

Hey everyone, I love this forum but often cannot help people out since I'm not great with cars. Since I'm a recording/computer geek, I thought to show my apprietiation I'd put my car into service position (learned how on this forum) and recorded the sounds of the engine. Enjoy.

Awesome recording. I love how you can hear all the fine high pitched sounds in there.

Ha! You try making sure a microphone stand doesn't fall over while shifting, it's worse than talking on the phone on windy road. I don't recommend either.

Hey that is a good clip. So you're a recording guy? Get more clips! Do it with different exhausts! Start a website! Sell advertising to exhaust manufacturers! Various intakes can be posted too! You can do it -I believe in you!

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

hmmm that sounds totally different than mine. Is this an S?
Mine sounds like it has more bass at lower RPMs. I'll see if my can record
the sound with my digital camera on the movie setting. I have one clip of a practice run at an Autocross. Anyone know how I can post that here? I believe its AVI format.

Anyone feel free to post the clip where ever they want to. I'm going to redo it soon, get a better mic stand set up so I can focus on driving and get the levels a bit better. Mine is not an S, however, it sounds VERY different when you put the car into service position and drive. It's a fun thing to try if you want to waste a half hour. However, do it at your own risk, since there is litterally nothing between your head and the engine. It's loud, it's hot, but damn it's a good time.

Sounds excellent! I love the way my S sounds. I have the Evo intake and a B and B exhaust and get looks all the time when I am getting into the throttle! I cant wait till it warms up around here to get that full top down sound again.

Is it? I shift like that all the time. Sounds like he was hitting around 6 grand and shifting fast. Thats what the car was made for right?
