All done
Just got the Boxster finished off!
When I purchased it last December it had a few faults. I had the windscreen replaced, I replaced the two rear wheel bearings, bled the breaks, changed the gearbox oil and gave it a general clean up. After looking at some of the Boxsters on this forum I decided to modify the look of it by fitting some spacers, a GT3 aerokit bumper cover, some Aeokit 1 skirts and a Cayman style spoiler. It now drives spot on and looks exactly as I hoped it would. I couldn't think of a better car to have as a third / weekend car, it is definitely the most entertaining car I have ever driven! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369656920.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369657003.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369657229.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369657293.jpghttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369657645.jpg |
Looks awesome, enjoy!

Very clean look! Nice!

Looks great, I have the skirts on and the mk1 bumper is sitting in my garage. Looks like lapis blue my favorite color.
|
Beautiful...where did you get the Cayman Spoiler? Can you post a close up pic of it?
|
Hi the spoiler was an ebay purchase:
PORSCHE 1997-2004 BOXSTER 986 RETRACTABLE LIFT REAR WING 251221577285 Member ID racing_raven The quality of the product, which was shipped from Hong Kong was not that great, the shape was good, just that the fixing holes needed drilling through the fibreglass, which was a little too thin for my liking. I drilled the holes, then re-enforced them with S/S washers so that you could tighten the spoiler down without splitting the fibreglass. The look when painted is very good, i can't say how much if any down force you will get from it. The Box still corners like on rails with it fitted though. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369731169.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369731268.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369731713.jpg |
Thanks...is there any gap or fitment issues between the spoiler and the body? i have seen that spoiler and have considered it but it looked like it was made for the pre 03-04 boxster, which has a wider spoiler. Also, i haven't been able to locate Aerokit I sideskirts. Where did you find them?
|
The spoiler fits very well, there is a gap underneath as it rises up from the line of the bumper as you would expect, but it follows the line of the boot lid very well.
You do need to slacken the actuator bolts to help it to find its best operating position then re-tighten after operating it a couple of times. This is the where I got my Aerokit 1 skirts: Porsche Boxster Aero Side Skirts (110731795678) Member ID jalla400 |
Found them. Fitment of the side skirts looks good. Did you have any issues?

I have the same Spoiler, but also added the rear diffuser...
Both took some modifying but it looks great on the car! Picked up some plastic covers for the spoiler holes and had them painted to the dove gray color of the car.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369753825.jpg |
What size spacers did you use?
|
The skirts, spoiler and bumper cover were all painted and fitted by a local paint shop, A1 Spray Tech in Grantham, they did an excellent job. They did comment that the skirts took a bit of fettling and filling to make the fit just right, the bumper cover is OEM GT3 so that was just a bolt on.
I originally fitted 25mm spacers to the rear and 16mm at the front, the fronts were fine, but the rears stuck out to far, so I reduced them back to 16mm which is what you can see in the pics. |
Hey Rob, looks really nice. well played!
Do you have you wheel & tyre sizes at all, I was think of running 15mm spacers up front but the back looks way to tight for 15's. I note you have 16's and they look kind of how i imagine the 15's will look which is a little too much for me (just my personal pref). Was just looking to get a comparision before i ordered. I need mine just a touch further in at the rear. I am a little concerned about the increased 'road rash' on the body work given the wider stance. How many miles have you done with the set-up and have you noticed this, |
I'm running 23mm spacers on the rear of mine with Carrera lights fit with 275's. The fitment is perfectly flush with the fender.
|
The Box is sitting on 18" GT3 rims, the 16mm spacers have pushed the tyres to the side of the wheel arch a couple of times on the off side only, so perhaps I should reduce the spacers at the rear by a few mm. but it has only happened a couple of times over some heavy bumps during cornering.
The fronts are fine. |
By the way, Rob...I used to ride a 748S...best bike I have ever owned! Took it to Fast by Feracci and had it bored to 855.

Here's mine,
Second picture is at Cadwell Park in Lincolshire, famous for the mountain, where even I mangaged to get the front wheel up! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369933747.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369933810.jpg |
The car looks beautiful! The GT3 bumper looks great as does the spoiler! Love the color, of course;)
