That 914 is beautiful! I would say the Boxster is fortunate to have found such a good home:cheers:

Always loved the wheels that are on the 914. That to me is just classic Porsche:cheers:

What do you think about your 914 after driving the Boxster?

I drove my 914 the first time about a week after buying the Boxster. It may be blasphemous to say on this message board - but if I had to choose between them - the 914 will win. Obviously the Boxster is faster, more powerful, and modern - but the handling the 914 has...I had a grin on my face before I even left the neighborhood. And once I get my flat six motor in it - it'll have a little more power.

I have owned 4 914's over the years. You cannot beat the handling of a well set up car. My last one was a 74 with a 3.0ltr. With PMO Carbs. Great car for DE and autox. My Boxster is nice in that it has AC and heat.

914

You know, I drive the 914 for the first time after I purchased the 986 and have been driving every day for about 4 weeks. I was expecting to feel like I was in some old awkward feeling/handling car. But actually, the 914 felt very similar to the 986, with perhaps a slight edge in handling because it was lighter.

I like both cars! Driving my 986 reminds me of the days when I drive my 914 as a daily driver. Same feeling. In those days I had no A/C and the reliability was not as great. The Boxster is a bit thicker (smaller on the inside than the 914) but I don't feel like I am driving a big fatty car. The feeling is right inside. Hopefully they keep this feeling in the newer Boxsters as their is the tendency to always go bigger. When I drive the 914 in traffic I always keep my hand near the horn, I always feel like I am smaller and perhaps not seen. Same feeling in the Boxster, but I feel a little safer becuase you have more mass around you.

I used to love thrashing my 914 around the back roads of New England. It was no garage queen either, so I wasn't always concerned about somebody dinging it.

Of course, my Boxster is much more sophisticated and quicker, and I certainly don't miss the old "stick in a marshmallow" shifter of the 914.

What a great pair of Porsches! I love that color on your 914.
