Rear wind deflector upgrade.

Seen these for sale but they were unlit. So I made my own. Just made up a design I liked and popped it in my sand blast cabinet. Here it is!

Got a set of LED's ordered for it so that I can change the color or have it blue then when I hit the brakes have it light up red. Not sure yet.

The lettering on the SC came out funny in the pic but it is nice and sharp on the part. This is a test lighting with 1 led!

rear view

Ok that IS pretty nerd cool, especially changing to red with braking, but doesn't it create a glare in the rear view mirror & partially obscure the view at night?

LOL! Not sure as I've not mounted it yet!! As soon as I do I'll let you know. I'm gonna hook up a dimmer to it so that might help. I'm waiting on the leds to get here.

Very Cool

You might have just made a business for yourself. I am curious to hear how it works with the glare.

Why not mount the Wind Deflector permanently?

I have a design that is almost impossible to steal, the WD is sandwiched between the roll bar and roll bar padding. It cannot move. As you go faster, it seats better and will not fly off!

Combine that with a lighting kit is what I had in mind. Any interest?

I've seen one on a 987 like that. But he had it held in place with what appeared to be some sort of Velcro strap.

That would make it easy to install the lighting. When I get mine installed and wired all up I'll see how it turns out. I don't see a problem doing either the stock WD or one like you are describing with any design anyone might want! I've got a buddy that I'm going to be doing something like this in a show bike windscreen. It's a sport bike so you don't really use the windscreen anyway or so he says! Lol!

Here's a link to the WD working. I have to put it in the car. It's got a IR remote that you can change the color or fade with it.

Hi,

Looks really good. Where did you get led & remote and what did they cost?

LED Lit rear deflector

Did you ever get it mounted and ready to go? I'm really curious about 1) the costs involved, and 2) the amount of glare you get while driving at night.

Thanks,

Pat

Yep got it mounted up and working. Glare is a no issue as you can dimm it to any brightness.

I've been down for surgery and just got out of the hospital. I'll try and post more as soon as I can walk and take more pics.
