GT2 vs. Turbo bumper
I can't decide whether to put in the GT2 look or the Turbo look bumper. What do you think? Hope the attachment function works.

Definately the Turbo Look bumper. That silver one looks Hot!
It blends much nicer with the clean lines of the Boxster. The GT bumper looks a little too aggressive for me. Just my humble opinion. Joe 01S Triple Black |

Does anyone know what type of mods are needed to fit any of these bumpers? |
I would go for the gt3 bumper. GT2 seems too wild on the subtle lines of the boxster. The turbo bumper looks good but the gt3 seems more understated.

I vote for the GT2 bumper too. Geez, you're 50/50 on this poll now! Better just get whatever you like best! That GT3 bumper has those two big vent holes and looks odd to me on the box, but hey, it's just an opinion.

try and score a 99 GT3 Porsche bumper with a lower lip spoiler. Its polyurethane like your stock bumper and not fiberglass which means you can never park the on the street again.

The Turbo is my favorite on the Boxster... I think it makes it look like a 360 Modena. Any idea where to get one that works with our headlights?
|
Go to www.precisionporsche.com and you'll find the kits there. Keep in mind that the bumpers are fiberglass and it may get damage easily, but you can't beat it for the price.
Still can't decide on which bumper still. I've eliminated the GT3. Cleaner lines on the Turbo bumper with the C4S lip, but agressive looking on the GT2. More opinions? Score so far on the two that I want: 3- turbos 2- Gt2 |
personally, I prefer the GT2 bumper.
The intakes are a bit too large for my liking on the turbo bumper, and dominate the front of the car too much. The GT2 bumper has the "fins" that break up the size of the intakes slightly, and make it a little bit less "in your face"! It probably depends on the colour of the car as well - the intakes will be much more obvious on a light coloured car, but on dark blue or black, the turbo bumper might look OK. There you go - just another opinion! |
I've decided on the turbo look bumper. Next thing.. Turbo lip or C4S lip? I think the C4S lip is cleaner and flows better with the factory side skirts.
|
Sounds like you like the second one better already, but I really like the turbo lip.
Hey, where are you buying this new bumper and lip anyway? How much? |
Bumper is from www.precisionporsche.com. It's about $800 including the OEM lip
|
how long will it take to ship the Turbo look bumper? My sideskirts from those guys took nearly a month.
Is the lip spoiler made out of urethane? You should try and avoid fiberglass for this piece in particular. You're bound to run over something on the road. |
He said they have it in stock, so can ship out within a few days. The bottom lip is the OEM urethene from the C4S. That's why it's $100 more.
I know I have to be careful with the fiberglass bumper, but who isn't owing a Porsche. |
Anyone know about fit and finish on their bumpers? Collision center is telling me that putting on anything aftermarket, no matter how reputable the company is, will involve a lot of work to make bumper look right. Lots of paint, bondo to smooth, and grunt work to make it fit properly. Any advice on this?

996 Turbo Nose
Can anyone tell me if the OEM 996 Turbo bumper fit the nose of 986 Boxster?

fefyfo, Just some perspective on this. I run a large collision facility and can tell you this is mostly true. Some aftermarket bumpers do not fit well out of the box at all. Some actually do need 5 to 8 hours of labor to fit and finish properly over and above the standard OEM replacement charge. My advice is to bring the new bumper to the shop to have someone take a look at it. They can judge the quality and come up with a more accurate estimate from there. If it is a good quality aftermarket bumper, then they are more likely to charge you less for the install. Likewise if it is not quality, I would expect to pay more and may consider not using it at all! Best of luck, Joe 01s Triple Black |

well the Turbo bumper will fit if you change the headlights to the Turbo version, change the fenders and hood. Its been done to several Boxsters before for about $6,000.
