More info on the mods. What are all 5 extra gauges for?

Skrapmot 08-28-2012 01:33 PM

Tell Jeff to fix his website, it's loads very bizarre on my IPad and many of the links don't work.

1olddude 08-28-2012 04:37 PM

To each his own. I am more traditional in my tastes but I have to admit it does grab the eyes. Nice work.

Crono0001 08-28-2012 04:41 PM

What skirts are those?

Also, performance mods plz

Johnny Danger 08-28-2012 05:03 PM

What part of this project is actually genuine Gemballa ?

ekam 08-28-2012 05:11 PM

There's the 20" wheels guy from Toronto and now there's this... sigh.

tommy986 08-28-2012 06:26 PM

All those mods, and still has the silly warning stickers on the visors.

Its not a Honda, but now it looks like one.

Bmod986 08-28-2012 06:45 PM

ok so there too much to digest here. My suggestion is to go back to stock hood, need to get better pics of the spoiler to make a conclusion, and get different intake vents or go back to stock ones. The extra space that the new vents take are distracting and a bit tacky. There like big ears. The rest of the car is pretty good. The interior is cool, one too many gemballa signs. Paint is nice, and good choice on the black case headlights. They look cool on the gray boxster. And from what i can tell you don't have any spacers so get some. That is about it. I hope there is something impressive in the middle to justify 5 gauges.

Sweeeet

Steering wheel!!!

All you missing is lambo doors.;-)

The rest is way to much for my taste
It's like Christmas tree!!!
But hey
You will be noticed 4 sure ( I think that's what R U going 4 anyway )
Looks like quality work tho!!!!
Best of luck

Perhaps I'm missing something.
This one, despite it's deviation from the classic 'Porsche' look, is at least decently done.

The 20" wheels not only looks bad, they aren't functional.

Thanks for your feedback Bmod986
The angle of the photo is not the greatest.
here's a side shot picture to get a better view of the side vents
(personally i really do like them, perhaps on this angle you "might" agree)

The hood is functional and directs cold air from the bumper through the turbo intercooler and out the top, also causes some added down force.

Yes the engine is quite elobarate, to be hosest its still in the build phase
and wont go in until this winter. (its been a huge undertaking just deciding which way to go) I would prefer not to make any claims or comments until its installed, as i may make some changes to the actual internals as well.
My ideal plan was 3.2s bored to 3.6 with twin turbo, but im settling with a 996 3.4 with single turbo and the common upgraded nick naks.
(deciding between sending the car to either TPC racing or Turbo kraft at the moment (if you or anyone else has had any experience with either one of these shops ide really appreciate any advice as quickly as possible) the car is ready to leave anytime in the next 2 months.

(the gauges on the hood are for boost and pyrometer for the turbo. The internal gauges are what monitors the amperage voltage and temperature of the 3 competition grade Amplifiers for the audiophile audio system which is also quite elaborate.

(this is not a track car at all - its for show and pleasure driving)
hope you can appreciate that!

i'll post some pics during the engine install process, i just wanted to finish the exterior and interior here in Toronto before the car gets shipped out to the US to get the motor and turbo installed.

Im doing my best and im happy with what i accomplished so far.
-constructive critisism is always welcome
-people that post positive feedback are very very much apprecaited.
-negative comments are their opinions and i can deal with that too.
(as long as im happy - and i am - thats what counts most!)

Thanks for taking the time to gimme your honest feedback!
im new to this forum as of today and i was really hoping that the people on it were respectfull and helpful.

I like it xtre. Perhaps it's because I'm of the younger crowd.

But what skirts are those?

Ahem.... manners Danger, manners ;)

Obviously a lot of work went into this car. It is a bit "shouty" for me but I'm old school. Surely it will be mistaken for a Lambo often so that is probably a win for the owner.

xtre986 08-28-2012 09:07 PM

Thank you very much Crono!

The side skirts are a Gemballa Design from their boxster biturbo
There are several knock offs that you can get if you want to save money.
for example duraflex g-sport by E.D is one.

be prepared to pay the body shop extra to get the knock offs to fit properly or get the genuines - for 5x the price.

Authentic Gemballa is super super expensive but truly great stuff!
my advise: if you have the cash get the real ones! unless you have a great contact at a body shop!

Good luck to you my friend and thanks for the positive feedback!!

Bmod986 08-28-2012 09:19 PM

Im glad your open to constructive criticism and that the car is going to have a turbo. I meant no offense about the big ear vents but you got some skill to build a fully functional hood scope so good job and are the side skirts functional because that would be a quite impressive. The side pic is great and the spoiler seems to be attached to the original so it will rise and thats cool too. I would still trim the bottom part of the vent and make it fit in the original space but keep the single fin which looks very good. Like the yellow gauges. Oh and you didn't comment on the spacers.

Also Im sure it must have gone through your head but maybe giving the rear end a bit of a wide body like the 911s would be cool, but at this point its not even worth it. The cars look is basically complete I guess. So since the hood is functional now my only idea would be those vents. And did you look at the 550 tail lights, I think they might look nice.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1346217362.jpg

Here's an interior pic (during the assembly) for those that can appreciate the talent of Don Lee at Dallas Custom Steering Wheel and the fabulous work at bumper plugs for their contribution to this interior build thats far from imperfect workmanship! They did a job that im extremely pleased with!

xtre986 08-28-2012 09:34 PM

Thanks again Bmod986

Yes Im using 7mm spacer in the rear to accomodate the alt miro 349 19" rims.

The oem spoiler is still there with the addition of the secondary spoiler on the trunk lid. this will be replace with the caymen roof anyways.

The wide fender flares are next to give it a wider stance- but not till next summer. focus right now is stricly to engine. im even doing the lambo door conversion at the same time.

The side vents are fully functional and direct much more air than the oem's
both in and out.

Thanks again i really appreciate your suggestions.

xtre986 08-28-2012 09:41 PM

all yellow stitching is on Black Alcantara.
seats are real italian leather.
even the window pillars are alcantara.

Not sure what to do about those damn visors, but at least the sticker are yellow which matches the cars interior so ive just excepted it until i find a solution
maybe an alcantara wrap in the future for those visors.

Skrapmot 08-28-2012 09:50 PM

You can buy black stickers on eBay to cover those visors.
