My Lapis Blue 2001 S
Here's my 2001 S that I picked up on July 2, 2012 in Atlanta. It's a two owner, now 3 owner :D with just over 64K miles(now closing in on 66,000 fun filled miles!) So far I added the Boxster S graphic on the spoiler, swapped out the CD Holder for the shelf and added an iPhone cable which I routed through the shelf to the CDR-220. I will probably do the OBC mod in the near future. So far, I am just enjoying driving something sportier than my Tundra!

Do you happen to have info or a part number for replacing the cd shelf? I want to get rid of mine and add some storage space
|
I bought from Pelican Parts:

Swapping the CD Holder for the shelf is super easy. I popped off the trim on the side of the console, just pull from the back and then pushed from the rear on the CD holder. I routed the cable from the radio down to the open space. I dremeled an opening in the shelf to slide the connector through so that my iPhone can sit on the shelf. Installing the cable was super simple as well.

Did you have to remove the stereo or just reach under and connect? I may have to remove mine to unplug the cd changer if the aux cable requires it I have the cr 220 tape deck with a cd changer in the frunk |
You have to remove the stereo and unplug the changer. Again, very simple to do with the stereo removal tool. I bought the iP-BKR2 from Discount Stereo. I got my tools from Suncoast but the Discount Stereo site says that they will include the removal tools with purchase of the cable. Shipping was very fast for both sites. You won't be able to use your CD changer anymore but that's the whole point, who needs CD's when you can have all of your music on one device!?!
You put the tools in the lower slots of the radio and then pull. It is easier if you insert a screwdriver into each hole. You will understand what I mean when you do it, saves your fingers! I didn't disconnect the battery as suggested, just pulled out the CDR-220 and plugged the cable in. I drilled two holes in the upper right back of the shelf and then used the dremel to connect the dots(cut the slot) for the connector to slide through. The cable works great with my iPhone 4S and even charges it! I didn't want to lose the factory look of the Head Unit and this gives me what I wanted. The more I use the CDR-220, the happier I am with it. This is from someone who is somewhat of an audio/video geek. I love great sound but with the top down, you are only going to get so much quality sound so I am happy. I also got lucky and have the speakers behind the headrests. Good enough for now;) |
Today I washed, clayed, and waxed my Boxster. I also added a door plug from bumperplugs.com. Installed the vinyl decals for the sun visors from eBay. Dipped the knobs from the CDR-220 in plastic dip to get rid of the stickiness. Added a Porsche sticker to the windscreen in Blue. And finally, used leather conditioner on the seats. I am pretty happy with the results!

I hope you lock your vehicle at night ! Gangland is all I can say ! And put some water on that grass too !
|
Love the color! That decal on the windscreen is killer! Nice work.
|
LOL Yes, it spends it's nights locked securely in the garage. What can I say, I like green grass! Actually, we've had a few good showers in the last week. Have to cut it tomorrow.

Nice job! Wanna do a grey one?
Wondering what you think of using the clay? What do you see different over just washing and waxing? Louis 01 Seal Grey S |
You can feel the difference after using the clay. Really makes the finish smoother. This was the first time that I have ever tried it, but I am a believer now. I used Mothers. There is a kit at Walmart that includes the detailing spray and a microfiber cloth. Worked great!

Thanks, I'll have to try it. Porsche has great paint finishes and I want to keep it that way!
Gotta mow the yard tomorrow too! |
Super nice looking car ...Lapis Blue is perfect for the Box
|
I've got to mow my grass today too before it gets hot. The claying is worth it, just an extra step. Make sure you keep the surface lubed. I followed Spinnaker's advice and did everything in a straight line, from the wash to the waxing to avoid swirls. Thanks for the compliments guys!

Our cars are nearly identical twins!
Nice work, it's looking great. Feel free to stop by and give mine a nice cleaning, too... |
