I normally hate aftermarket headlights but I really like those

xtremecc 04-11-2012 11:10 AM

I also like those headlights, my only concern is that they might be too much chrome? I would also loved if the had a single or dual led turning signal row(s) that did not curved up upward into the side of the fog light. I might buy the black version of this headlight, probably more sporty and updated look?

Andrewinusa 04-11-2012 12:17 PM

Sadly they don't have the black version, I wish they make one :( and yeah I also agree
with you that it might be too much chrome but i think it looks nice while the car is
running with those LED on may be?

VERY NICE! DANG, they're just too expensive considering the "brand". Hows the build?

ohhh my 04-11-2012 02:13 PM

I forgot where, but I believe it was on one of the 996 forums said the quality is not that great. Also, the headlight projectors are using halogen bulbs(which you can install an HID kit, but the cut off line and quality is not good).

xtremecc 04-11-2012 02:15 PM

thanks to RandallNeighbour who got a hold of Xtreme Motorcars, he was able to get a special price for 986forum members at $795 per set. they offer the chrome and black version. check the tread here

anyways, here is the only pic of the black one. I think both would look nice. wonder if any members have bought these headlights and can post more pics.

Oh wow:eek: I didn't know they have black one too, thank you xtremecc for the info.

cheers!

Did anyone ever find a version with the black inner housing (non-chrome)? I thought I saw it before, unless I'm my memory is just filling in blanks...

Also interested in the black housing ones.

Please post here if you are interested in a bulk buy. I'll step up and try to figure a good pricing for us.

Black ones also.
Also i would think they would be perfect with just a straight row of LEDs.
My amber ones are getting yellow.

xtre986 08-28-2012 12:51 PM

JAAY 08-28-2012 12:54 PM

Wow if that's not an add I don't know what is.

Skrapmot 08-28-2012 01:26 PM

Anyone else try these that's not currently sleeping with Jeff? :p

I wouldn't mind an unbiased opinion. That is one well done modified Boxster though, and from those pic the headlights look sharp.

I wonder, do the LEDs stay on as DRL? Any way to turn them off and use for just turn signals Do the fog lights work (haven't seen any photos of them on)?

Wonder what those black one would look like on a black 986...the chrome ones would be too much contrast.

SF-Rockster 08-29-2012 12:21 AM

I'd be interested in the black ones too for my black box. Can't seem to find any pictures.
Anyone have a link to the black housing?

Mrmaddbrad 09-18-2012 09:21 AM

Hows the lighting? Just curious... Better than stock?

chaudanova 09-18-2012 04:10 PM

Can someone post a picture with them on? I'm curious to see how the smaller led's that surround the projector look...

Thanks!

i got mine yesterday. however, i am having a hard time "locking" into place. did anyone have that issue? also, has anyone changed out the main bulb to be "whiter"? would a LED bulb in there be helpful?

Yes, the lever to secure the light in place is very tight.. I found taking a dremel to the bottom latch indentation of the new light resolved the problem. The tolerance is too tight..
Prior to doing that it would snap hard and smash the projector into the top lens..

See link where others encountered the same.. my post is #141 http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/34492-remove-amber-film-headlights.html

Hope this helps

thanks. tony. so, you deeped the grove on the bottom of the new lights, correct? i assume you don't have any pics of this...do you?

tuanle16 10-23-2012 09:50 AM

currently, mine does not "snap" in at all. i can toggle it loose and pull it out. scary. afraid if i brake hard enough, the darn things will just pop off.
