If I am not mistaken "Z-Art" or Andreas Zeinecke lives in either Switzerland (accourding to 986 profile) or Edmonton, Alberta (according to Facebook account)

And at the start they were manufacturing them in South Africa.

Andreas - excellent stuffs! two questions (1) weights, and (2) you'd stated that you would do a lightweight version also, without inner liners, etc. - cost and weight please!

+1 on these question, want to compare weight and price to other options on a Boxster racing car...

Tks. for ur complement...for race u do not need really to open the hatch..means no need of any hinges, center look u need the le and ri spin locks all and rubbers u do not need, but something like a small frame u need to give the top stability will not increase the weight very much but u need it to fix all the locks. The question now.
If u wanna carbon fiber or fiber glass ?? difference to both typs of material will be roughly about 18 lbs u can count the weight for fiber glass top about 18 kg/ 40 lbs for carbon fiber top about 9 kg/ 20 lbs.......but the price difference will be quiet much more.
f
Fiber glass light version 2500.-- unpainted
carbon fiber 4400.-- carbon fiber including epoxyd resin 2 layers one out side in carbon fiber and one layer composite for safety reason and all need to be done with vacuum, material cost much more aswell

Just so I understand this correctly, that would be 9kg in total for a carbon fiber racing version of your Zaintop. And that top will replace the top, rear deck and the cover that sits over the normal soft-top between the hardtop and the rear deck?

Anyone know how this would compare to using the same composite stuff from GT-Racing?

Looks like its about 6.5 kg for their top + rear window; without fasteners. But with the Z top, you'd remove the rear deck lid so it may be a wash, or even come out ahead.

I'm assuming with either, you would remove the convertible top?

the Carbon top weight are 9 kg exclusive glasses and will look like the other once. Rear deck and the cover that sits over the normal soft-top all are covered...just with out any rubber and real glasses of course...I can provide you with european macrolan from BAFS very light.. u can drill n bolt it even on if you like...the hatch can remove easy because you have to install on each corner a kind of bolt plugs the same are used for front hood.
but to safe weight might be better you would remove the convertible top.

sorry if my english not so perfect.

I'm interested in a Ztop. I emailed to "andreas@ogi.co.za" a week ago and no reply.

Andreas responds slowly, but I've found he checks Facebook weekly. Contact him there.

Chee_dog 07-13-2012 01:35 PM

Let us know when someone actually gets their top. I know even with paypal, it's not that secure.

Z-art 07-18-2012 09:28 AM

Hi, if u like to order a top and u do not trust paypal or our company than go to your Bank and open a letter of credit. Fees are perhaps the same as by paypal.

We are praud about Z- top

brp987 07-22-2012 12:08 PM

Do you guarantee it to seal out rain?

Does it seal out wind noise as well as Porsche hard top?

Does the ztop require work from a professional shop for fitment and installation like most aftermarket fiberglass? Or does it really only need paint and can be installed "as is" by owner?

If a Boxster already has a hardtop, does the ztop come with everything needed to install it?

Is the glass actually glass or plastic? Does an actual Cayman window fit?

Does the hatch hold open with struts like the trunk?

Is the ztop locked when closed using the existing electrical lock in the trunk?

Idaho Red Rocket 3 07-23-2012 08:23 PM

I would really like to see pictures of the inside. Can you past some Art ?

Hi, for first fitment might be better if you have or know some one with knowledge to handle tools.
All hardware to assemble the top are including

If a Boxster already has a hardtop, does the ztop come with everything needed to install it?
If you already has a top you do not need more .... all are complet exept the insert/bolts for the side look. but that will be even not included if u order a OEM top at ur local dealer

Is the glass actually glass or plastic? Does an actual Cayman window fit?
all glasses are real, tempered and heating rear glass, cayman window will not fit
Does the hatch hold open with struts like the trunk?
the hatch you can open like ur trunk, and will hold with 2 shokes
[/COLOR]
Is the ztop locked when closed using the existing electrical lock in the trunk?

will locked and open like OEM

Does it seal out wind noise as well as Porsche hard top?
might be a bit more...because includes now a hatch.... but no complains untill now

If installed right its quieter than a softop but def. louder than the inside of a sedan or cayman

Not my cup of tea, can't see making my Boxster a Cayman.

I like the sunshine and the top down, but if I lived in the mid-west or east would be great for winter months. But then again a hardtop would do the job easier.

brp987 12-29-2012 01:08 PM

Sooooo...Where are these Z Tops? :ah:

I guess you can go back and read the early posts. I advised everyone (those few who didn't already know) that these tops are not made and haven't been for about 3 years. Regardless of what the claimed maker of these says, he (if he is in fact the maker) doesn't make them and only wanted the advance money for money's sake. This thread (as any involving Zeintop questions other than buying an old used one) should be stopped because new folk read these and think they're still around.
