classic styling always works (PORSCHE DECALS)

Meh... who needs to buy a new Pcar when your old one never goes out of style
Winter wheels (18" 997 replicas) and some retro decals Believe it or not the thing hasnt been waxed in six months P.s. I'm kinda liking the roll hoops without the inserts http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1325478798.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1325478822.jpg p.p.s. p.s. looking at the Boxster Spyder shot here, those 19" wheels show way too much of the rotor. You can see clear through to the ground. I'm a fan of the GT3 wheels but at 19" I think it's too empty space there. Wish they would have done an 18" er. |
The wheels and stripes look good. Nice job. I think this is the first 986 I've seen with both stripes and skirts. They really bring the eye down and make a standard ride height look lower.

Those wheels look pretty cool...I like that!! If those are winter wheels I bet your summer ones look really nice :)

Where did you get the stripes from? Cheers Mark |

I'm going to have the Carreras redone in the BMW M3 shadow color by a wheel restorer my indy mechanic uses. Should be a nice contrast to the arctic silver and black stripes. I like the winter wheel look but the additional 10 pounds per wheel with a heavy winter tire really kills the acceleration. Not to mention the RE11 Potenza is as close to the RA-1 r comp that I've had so far. something to look forward to come April. I've been thinking about doing this but wasn't sure until I saw your car. It actually works well on the 986 body styling. Sorry to hijack your thread, but I did a quick photoshop on my car... what do you think? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...G_0199copy.jpg Cheers mark |
Nice photoshop, I like that on white a lot.

Perfectlap and Mark,
I think the stripes look awesome! Will definitely turn some heads as these are pretty rare besides the standard issue limited spyders, and a few others. |
i think I would do red stripe with the Cayman piece for the front bumper. with the 997 GT3 4.0 RS grey stripe down the hood that wraps around the hood crest, it has a thin red border. For the rear trunk I would do the same with the grey stripe coming down to your 986 badge or the Panamera "PORSCHE" badge in chrome finish.
on a white boxster I would also do a carbon wrap over the clamshell and mirrors. Mmm...maybe the klisstle (forum sponsor) roll hoop covers in white. http://image.motortrend.com/f/331392...-front-end.jpg http://image.motortrend.com/f/331392...0-rear-end.jpg Quote:

Looking forward to seeing your Carrera wheels with the black chrome finish (if that's what it is called). Thanks for the Klisstle mention. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get someone to try a color other than body color. I mocked up this red set before installing my white body color matching set. I never really considered red for my car since I don't have any red other than the brakes and lights. I did however consider a grey to match my wheels. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...pics/073cr.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...pics/076cr.jpg |

That blue decal is eye-catching but I think he should have done the PORSCHE lettering. It's very retro. Can't lose with decals either way. If you get tired of it...just peel it off. I love the way it makes the car look like its going fast even when parked. Quote:
I think that a contrasting color for the roll hoops would work on a black or grey Boxster. But on a color like white or yellow, keeping it body color gives a great visual punch. Everytime I see your ad I kick myself because I've had to repaint the front bumper twice and I keep putting off ordering a set. What a dummy. Those hoops really transform the top down look of the rear. The car looks unfinished without it. |
looks good!!!

I think that black sticker really cap off your white car Mark.
