I haven't done it, but I wanted to, and read a DIY on another forum some years ago. I don't think it's difficult, but somewhat involved. More than I wanted to do. I therefore developed my Klisstle overlays. I recall the following steps:
1) Remove the convertible top assembly (not sure what this entails)
2) Remove some interior trim pieces (maybe the pieces that cover the seatbelt mechanisms)
3) You will then have access to 8 or 10 fasteners that secure the roll bar
4) Remove the three trim pieces that adorn the roll bar (near the back of your head)
5) Prep and paint roll bar
6) Reverse to reassemble
The look of a completely painted roll bar is fantastic. But, I'm happy with the coverage of the overlays.
