Living the Dream - Laguna Seca

Spent three days driving time trials at Laguna Seca. Weather was clear and sunny in the low-70's - perfect. Total track time: 5hrs 45mins. Car ran great the entire time. Track is very smooth and in excellent condition.

The corkscrew is insane - the ABS would pulse under hard braking as the car unloaded the suspension as you crest the hill before the corkscrew and then its a hard left to enter. As you start to straighten the steering, you can see across the track to the opposite side but can't really see down the hill due to the steep drop. As soon as you start the drop, its time to start turning to the right. Then the g's pile on as you come down the slope and to the right at the same time. Quite a rush!

Fantastic!

That looks like a ton of fun. I did a Skip Barber 3-day Racing School there back in 2002 driving their Formula Dodge race cars. I need to do it again and would love to drive a nice street car there as well.

Great pics - thanks for posting them!

What are your times?
How much did it cost?

Fun track! Looks like Gunter Enz (542) behind you in the red & white 993 at the top of the corkscrew. He is pretty quick.

I miss that track. By far one of my favorites.

I belong to the Porsche Owners Club (www.porscheclub.com) in Socal which runs the events. The fee for Laguna Seca was $695 for the three days including professional instruction (which I used for two sessions on Friday and one final checkout session on Saturday morning since this was my first time at Laguna). My best time was 1:56 which was competitive for a stock base-model 1999.

Next stop is a one day DE at the Streets of Willow next weekend ($150) and then AutoClub Speedway in Fontana for a weekend of time trials on the 24th-25th($395).

As you can see, I've kind of become addicted to the track.
