I've had this 2001 Boxster for about a month now. Ive been lurking the site for a while so I figured I'd post a couple of pics. I'm having a new black top with glass window put on it right now. I'll have to take some top up pictures once it's complete.

Edit: Added pic of the new top with glass window.

Looks great - loving the dish on the rear wheels!!! What wheels are they?

Thanks! I like the deep dish as well. They are IForged Sprint 19" wheels. The previous owner didn't take very good care of them so I'm in the process of trying to bring them back to life. The finish is stained and two have been curbed pretty bad.

Looks great! I too really like the wheels, good luck bringing them back to life.

I appreciate it! I've been dealing with some CEL issues, as well as getting a new top on it, so wheels haven't been priority. They are now up on my list. I'm planning on taking some simple green to them in the next few days then a polish.

I've attached some wheel pics so you can see what I'm looking at. Mainly stained is the worst of it.

Wow - they are terrible up close huh!!! They will come up nice after a good clean though, also consider using some iron-x on them.

Yea they have def seen better days. I've talked to IForged and they tell me that they are polished but extremely oxidized. They said I can try and use aluminum polish myself, but it will likely take a pro to get them back to where they should be. I just got a mothers powerball mini yesterday to try, but now the cars in the shop so it will have to wait.

You may have to lightly wet sand them with 2k grit to get them to shine again. You may even have to go with a more aggressive grit to get them back to shining again. But, I’d try the Mother’s polish first. :)

You say that is a glass top? Did you mean plastic? I don't see how you can put a glass rear window since the window needs to "fold" when you put the top down.

I just had a GAAH glass window top installed here in Orlando for my 2000S...really looks good, will post pictures later. As for your wheels, you need to go to a chrome shop and get the jewelers polishing material...it's like a small brick. A 1/2 drill with a cloth round buffing wheel. Or, see what kind of price they would charge to polish them.

Yep def a glass window. Take a look at Robbins or GAHH for replacement tops with glass windows.

I'm getting the car out of the shop this week so I'll tackle the wheels soon I hope. I'm going to try a couple things myself and then move on to a specialist if I don;t get the results I want. The manufacture suggested a professional re-polish.

What suspension setup are you running? I really like the lower ride height but would also like to know about the handling. Any thoughts or comments?

Earn 08-16-2011 09:51 AM

I believe that it's lowered with the H&R springs I'll try and verify. The ride is rough on the highway sometimes, but I believe it's more wheel/tire size as apposed to suspension but I could be wrong. I love the look of the stance though. I'd like to look into some different shock options.
