Kirk's Carrera 4S
I know it's not my Boxster, but I thought I'd still share. I was just having a little fun:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSBhIJH9usI But now I need new tires. :( It was worth it though. My 17 yr old son went with me and we had a great time just messing around. Let me know if this works okay, this is my first time ever putting a video on YouTube. Kirk |
Attaboy! Love it!!!
How did you disengage the 4wd? I didn't think a C4 could do that? |

I just turned the PSM off and had to get the engine near red line to break the rear wheels loose. The AWD was still engaged. Kirk |
That had to smell awful.
Were your tires needing replacement anyway? |

No.... but yeah when my motorcycle rear tire would wear out I'd usually do some smokey burnouts and donuts in front of my house before I'd rip the rear wheel off to take it into the shop for a new tire. So I know what you're talking about. I've never really had a car to do donuts in before. I had a WRX that was more than powerful enough, but with it's AWD I couldn't get it to break loose. I frankly was surprised that I could do it in an AWD 996. With my lack of experience I didn't know the tires would chunk so bad (I did more than what's in the video), but tires are replaceable.... it's not a big deal. Kirk |
Kirk, you must be doing well in this crappy recession to burn a grand's worth of rubber away just for fun!
I'm glad someone's making some money right now. It sure ain't me! :ah: |
Kirk,
Looked like fun, I just can't do that to a nice set of tires though... I just can't. Now you are totally ready for the NASCAR winners circle. Doh! Sorry, I said the "N" word. :o |
Cool video, when my rears are ready to go, I look for a place to do some donuts, great fun and very easy to break the rears loose, just step on the gas into a tight turn and you can save your clutch. I have a pretty new set of PS2's on the car now, so I am behaving myself.
Ed  |
Good luck selling that car someday!

Hahaha.... who ever said I was going to sell my car??? I'm not a car whore - going through a new one every two to three years. :p I'm more of a mate for life type. This is just part of getting to know my car better.... Kirk |
