She's 12 now, but not bad looking, eh?
I drove to the country today and took some pix with my iPhone of my 1997 Boxster. The camera in the phone isn't half bad! BTW, the close up of the passenger quarter panel shows the excellent work that a PDR guy did last week. I cannot find the two quarter sized dings that were there... can you?

http://www.iwantaporsche.net/images/box15.JPG http://www.iwantaporsche.net/images/box16.JPG After I got the PDR done last week, I've decided I don't need a respray for a long time. I will live with the rock chips, nicks, and paint scratches here and there and only photograph it at least three or four feet away :) ... and yes, I see that my muffler is just a tad higher on the right side. As anal as I am about this car's appearance, that doesn't bother me that much. |
Looks nice!
Good choice in wheels, too. |
looks brand new!

Speedster humps
Nice car...as far as I can tell, the paint job still looks great. I have a hard time showing the gloss of my car so I appreciate the dark colors. How do you like the speedster humps by the way? I always kinda wanted one just it can add up quite a bit when you want everything I suppose.
Do you use it all the time or do you find it to be a nuisance for put on and take off? |
She doesn't look a day over 4!
Good job! |

Mine are aftermarket humps and I hear the factory ones are much better made and don't require the velcro straps in the center. I'd love to get a factory pair one day. |
I clicked on the title of your post half expecting it to be a set up from "To catch a predator".
Great looking car! Makes me realize how badly I need to replace the stock wheels on my 2000. |
Holy cow I didn't even think of that
|
Nice new car...! :)
|
Randall - that car is a BEAUT! And the 18" Carrera's are probably my favorite rims for the Boxster.
 |
That is just plain gorgeous. If it were not for the engine and RMS issues, I would be hunting for a $8G boxster right now and going down this road.
Great job Randall. |
Randall,
You really ought to write a book about yourself and that car. You prolly have the outline for a few chapters in your postings already. Then weave in your family and life's work kinda like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Seriously. |
Thanks, Mike. I am a published author and I've given serious consideration to writing a book about how to buy and maintain a Boxster.
However, I am in the midst of writing a lengthy book right now, and I have outlined another one after this so it will be next year before I can give it any attention. Of course, all royalties would be earmarked for a total restoration of this car ... 3.X Raby motor, new interior, new front and rear bumper covers, new side skirts, and a paint job so nice that you'd swear it was bathed in liquid glass  |
Randall, we need to talk!

"Of course, all royalties would be earmarked for a total restoration of this car ... 3.X Raby motor,"
Your car looks great, hard to think it's that old. When mine turns 10 years old next year, I am going to have to have a party for it. Some of us can sure get attached to our cars, I know I am. In fact, do not have much desire to get another Boxster, just to continue to keep mine up. If my engine goes, I guess I would be forced to put in a 3.6L transplant..... Ed  |
If someone told me that car was 12 years old, I'd swear they were lying. Despite the age, it's very well-kept. You could still prolly turn a few heads with that. I know I'd turn my head, hahaha.

Beautiful car!
