Diagnostic Software

Can anyone provide me with a recommendation for diagnostic systems and software?
I was driving over a mountain pass yesterday and my check engine light came on. The light turned off by itself later but I would really like to know what the fault was.
I used to have the Vag-com software which I used on my Audi but I don't think it will work for my Porsche.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Durametric.

I found out Durametric is actually located in Bend Oregon. I stopped by to see the place and enjoyed talking to the owner/programmer for the software. He has done some impressive things. I just wish I had more time to spend there but I had another appointment to attend. To make a long story short I purchased a kit and used it to clear a CEL which came on when I was driving over a mountain pass a week earlier. It looks like I have an oxygen sensor going out as I have now cleared the code 3 times over the past month or so.

Great software!
