Finally done - for now . . .

It's been 2 yrs since I convinced myself that I would get this as a daily driver and not let it become a new hobby. I'm getting to the point that I have to do the engine swap (or perhaps start a new project car). At any rate, I finally figured out how to post pics (poor photography notwithstanding).

Very nice! Why did you go with yellow face gauges when you have red stitching all over and red calipers? Still looks very sharp.

Ofishbein 04-12-2008 03:42 PM

I have a friend with red gauge faces and it's hard to see the orange needle against the red background. I don't know if anyone sells different color needles and the yellow contrasts well.

The red stitching started with the OEM Alcantara wheel and shifter. Once I had those, I simply couldn't bear looking at all the regular stitching everywhere else - so the entire interior had to be redone (I had to justify it somehow, right?)

Love those foot rest and foot pedals. Where can I get some of those?

I love the interior! You have done a great job. Please give us syome details on where
you found all these interior pieces.

I love that interior. I have a similar theme on mine. Its Blk with the factory deviated red stitching and red seat belts. I have been thinking about having the centers of my sport seats recovered in alcantara as well as the steering wheel, dash and shift knob and boot. Could you put more detailed pix of the interior and if its not too much to ask where and how much you spent. Again very nice job on the whole pkg.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Some answers:

The pedals and floorboards are from Rennline.

I'm hesitant to reveal the cost simply because I can't control what the vendors may charge in the future - but I will say that I did EVERYTHING, including new floor mats and red seat belts, for about what it would have cost me to buy two OEM GT3 seats.

The interior work included removing the entire dashboard and re-skinning it and the door panels in leather with red stitching (I didn't like the textured "leatherette" of the original dash). I also had red stitching along the door ridge from the handle back for accent.

I purchased Alcantara fabric directly from Gulf Fabrics (color 9002) in both "Pannel" for seat applications and "cover" for everything else. The Pannel spec is specifically for seats and has a layer of thin padding for added strength. It's about $100 per yard. I also sent my original steeing wheel to Dallas Custom Steering Wheel to have it recovered so it would match all the rest exactly. The OEM Alcantara wheel was slightly off in shade and I wanted a dead-on match since it would be, literally, in my face when I drive. The recover cost is $289 plus shipping so it's less than the OEM wheel and Don will do whatever you want (rally stripe, etc.).

There is Alcantara on the steering wheel, shifter boot, door airbags, sun visors (no more pesky airbag stickers), E-brake, console lid, door map pocket lids, and center tunnel side trim. All the rest is black leather w/red stitching. The seat belts were also switched out to red.

The vendors were Rich and Famous Auto Tops in Van Nuys and Upholstery by AJ in Northridge (the job was done in two stages and I wanted to try several locals - both did excellent work)

Thanks again, you have motivated me even more so to start on this project. Last weekend I was in our local PCA autocross event and there was a section where there was a loop and every time I came out of the loop I kept sliding down on my seat! Having the alcantara center on my seat would have held me in! Thanks again
