Black Cars - A Love / Hate Relationship

We actually have a beautiful weekend here in Chicago, so I spent the day mowing the lawn and washing and waxing the cars.

Enjoy :

Nick

You're a glutton for punishment Nicky!
I traded my wifes Black SUV for a silver one just so I didnt have to wash it as much!

The only thing I don't get is how you did all that in one morning!

I have two black cars and Mrs Sixter's new black X5, so I know what you mean. 'Cept I have no lawn here on the beach. Just plants.

Nick, your arms are looking HUGE!

I spent the weekend driving! I did 430 miles yesterday and then another 350 today.

Winter storage prep starts next week.

Bogg,

It’s not easy. My bonus at the beginning of this year went towards paying for our wedding last November, so not a lot left for the “Porsche Fund”. Here’s what I would like to do :

1. Need another set of wheels and R compound tires for Autocross next year.
2. I would like to add exhaust, intake, and chip
3. Deamber ( rear, front, and side lights )
4. Twin turbo

The only thing I struggle with is I will probably get rid of the car in another 3 years. I traded in a year old Jaguar X Type for my box ( I just had to have one ) and financially it probably wasn’t the smartest move I ever made but not for one day have I ever regretted it – I love my Boxster ! I’m not sure if I want to dump all this money into my 99 when I will probably buy a brand new one in 2010.

Audioguy,

I agree ! Still not sure if I would buy another black car or get a silver one next time ( but I love the way black looks when it’s clean ! )

DJ,

I actually like doing lawn work and detailing the cars. I used to hate mowing the lawn when I was in high school, but now that it MY lawn, I don’t mind it as much ! This is the first car I ever spent the time cleaning myself. All my other cars would just get run through the car wash when they were due, but washing the Box is truly an act of love ( and since I have all the stuff now I figure I might as well do the Benz as well ).

70Sixter,

I started at about noon and finished at 4:00 pm ( keep in mind I only did the exteriors, no interior cleaning this time ). It was worth sacrificing a Saturday, since I had all day to play today ( it was a beautiful day here in Chicago, and to top it off the Bears won ! ) I would gladly trade the lawn for the beach any day, I miss the beach SO much ( 6 years in Florida, 5 years in California ).

Bill,

Zaino, baby ! The easiest and best wax I have ever used ! Wow, 800 miles in a weekend, awesome ! What a beautiful day. Winter prep time huh ? This will probably be the last good weekend of the year. If you miss your baby gimme a call, you can borrow mine anytime ( as long as the streets are clean )

Thanks for the replies, all…

Nick
