Gray is the new Black

I've always been a fan of black rims -they're pretty money. But check out gunmetal on the ol' Boxster...

Opinions?

Sorry...you asked- They look like wheels that haven't been cleaned in a while that are covered in brake dust. Maybe if you had the outer lip in silver and just the inner part of the wheel in grey, like the Boxster 550SE wheels, it would look better.

It does look brake-dusty...
Aside from the silver lip, the difference of the 550 rims is that they appear to be glossy. I think the flat gray looks enticing.

I don't plan on doing this, I was just curious as to what others thought.

Yeah, the 550 versions are glossy. I kinda like them glossy because people can confuse the matte look with brake dust.

I think your wheels look good as they are. I wouldn't change em.

Just for giggles...

Imagine cleaning brake dust on these!

I had white wheels on a Mustang when they were in style. What a pain.

I like the gray with the polished lip like the 550. You wouldn't have to make them shiny. You could do a dull finish like the old magnesium wheels that are coming back into vogue.

personally, I like matte black wheels. they tend to hide the brake dust. I really want some 19" iforged monaco's in "hyper black" for my 986. If that conversion hadn't have cost me an arm and a leg, I'd probably have them by now.

But, recently I've been looking at the Moda MD1's. Set of 4 19" wheels for $1200 from tire rack. That's just the wheels but, that's pretty inexpensive for a set of quality wheels. Moda is made by BBS.
