No, hard codes are only triggered after certain parameters (# of times repeated, number of miles, etc.) are met; until then it remains "pending" and the check engine light stays off.

And be sure it is made of the correct materials; not all O-rings are meant to be used in this application. AC o-rings are typically green in color and made from HRBN, a Nitrile 70 Durometer Material.
