Full rebuild wouldnt be known until dropping it & doing a tear down, borescope, etc.

My bet is the cam pads or rails depending on color

get a magnet, run it around and see if those flecks get picked up by the magnet.

What about pictures of the filter?

If the magnet doesn't pick up those flecks then it's going to be your cam...
