Markus: I've used the OEM tool literally hundreds (maybe thousands) of times with zero issues. If yours stripped, it was probably caused by some binding in the headlight tray/lock bar or improper use...

Does your lock bar fully engage? With the lock engaged, chances of one falling out are slim to none.
