A bad idler pulley….

….is very bad news.

I have seen three different Boxsters go up in flames after an idler pulley failure.

Belt friction set that thing on fire.

DT40 is the way to go….

Fix the leak.

Leaks never get better, only worse.

And like he said, the Porsche coolant is mixed with water, it’s not any more expensive than any other stuff.

On my 2004….

….it was the valve on top of the tank, underneath the battery.


It was a real pain to R&R, and then the replacement one failed six months later.

Yes, correct.

The link I posted was for the guys that repair the under seat unit.

They also sell a waterproof box to put yours in before it gets flooded. I bought one and installed it.
