What is the correct way to drive through a curve (spirited driving)?

When I come to an curvy exit ramp for example, do I accelerate going into it? Or midway into it? This is purely for fun to pull some Gs. Wondering what the correct way is.

Handling is kinda bad after getting new rear tires - change the fronts or the brand

I changed my PS2 rear 18s for Sumitomo HTRZ IIIs but left the PS2s on the front (have about 50% wear).

Well, my once solid as a rock, super-responsive Boxster is an oversteer mess (or maybe it's...

Was reading Jalopnik piece on the lawsuit and this comment about Boxster safety (or the lack thereof) from a side impact gave me the shivers. Looks like a person's shoulder would be destroyed in a...

Have tire patched at Porsche indy for $60 or at a regular ole tire place for less?

My Boxster's tire has a tiny leak that slowly - very slowly - leaks air. I notice it getting lower every two weeks or so.

The indy says they patch it from the inside, which he claims is better...

I have a 987 and think the 981 are so much better looking on the outside and inside. Never liked how the 987 looked with the top up from the side - but the 981 looks good actually with the top up...

The new Miata: anyone considering trading their Boxster in for it?

Lots of reviews here: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=567173&highlight=reviews

Pros:

- 0-60 in 5.8 seconds (can vary depending on the magazine that test drove it)
- I like the...

Is it bad to engine brake (tiptronic)?

Wondering if I'm doing something bad to the transmission by downshifting to slow down rather than use the brakes in my tiptronic.

Didn't realize how invisible we are to trucks until I sat in one

Got in a friend's large pickup truck that was raised a little bit. The Boxster is so low that unless I'm looking for it, or using the side mirrors well, I would totally not see it if I glanced over...

That's a good point that I didn't think about. I could see some d-bags who are thinking "f you Porsche guy!" and spit in it or throw trash in it.

Do you put top up when parking at the grocery store, etc?

Not sure if putting the top and down over and over several times a day is a bad thing, but if it is, I wonder if it's generally safe to leave the top down when going to the grocery store, a...

What damage do rough roads cause on a Boxster?

I live in the Big Easy, which has some of the worst roads in the country. I try to stick to the well paved roads but I still do have to go over the bad ones.

Other than possible wheel damage,...

When to shift gears (don't laugh, it's on a Tiptronic)?

Never driven a manual or a Tip before and have been playing around with it on manual mode in my new Boxster but am not sure when I am supposed to shift. I like getting the revs up to 6k in 2nd gear,...

Oops, forgot to mention that I got a PPI done. I will go with his recommendations, which were a couple of minor things. Thanks for the response.

Bought my first Boxster (finally), should I do any service on it based on its Carfax?

Bought a 2006 with 38,000 miles and am wondering if I should take it to the shop for any maintenance based on the Carfax info below. All of the work below was done at the same Porsche dealer, who...

This is what it looks like. Very similar to Husker's pic. You can see how the top is going over the window seal thingy (partially) rather than under it.

PPI says the top's "tension straps" not tight, how much to ask to knock off price?

Have no idea what repair cost would be and the upholstery shops are closed for the weekend.

He says it affects how snug/tight the top closes on the car.

What option would you not skimp out on?

As I'm looking for used Boxsters as a first-time buyer, I come across some that have Bixenon lights, some that don't, some that have windstops, some that don't. Bose, power seats, S vs. Base, the...

Does the top of this used 987 look normal to you?

Hi (again).

I'm still on the hunt for a Boxster and saw this one at a Porsche dealer. In the notes it says that is has a brand new top. I'm not close enough to stop by and look at it, so I was...

Are worn out A/C knobs, like this one, fixable?

Looking to buy a used Boxster and see a decent amount of cars with A/C knobs worn out like the one below. Not sure what to make of it.

Thanks. The price is $21,000. It's out of town, so the PPI becomes a bit of pain I think, even though I found an highly regarded independent Porsche mechanic that will do it for $500. But he said...

Is a 2007 Boxster with 30k miles likely a decent car (mechanically) to buy?

Oops edited wrong post. Ugh. The OP said: 30kish miles, only one service record, no accidents. Selling at new car dealer.
