Question: what is that switch on top of the motor for? I see that when it's pressed down by the clam shell it only allows the transmissions to rotate forward, even if you press the "top up" button. ...

convertible top motor trouble

So I had the typical problem with plastic ball cups breaking under stress on the push rods. Got new ones on, that was the easy part.
Reconnected the clam shell and tested the motor and transmissions...
