convertable top transmission

Recently the gear broke in the right side convertible top transmission. Anyone that has had this happen knows what a pain it is to remove the transmission when the top is stuck in closed position....

That oil was as ugly as I've ever seen. It was also the wrong kind (castro 20/50). The car ran fine when I changed the oil.
