It is a 1997 boxster. So I don't think it has the pretensioners that you speak of.

Any other ideas? I don't even know how to get to the actual mech that does the retracting of the belt.

I asked my mechanic if he had any shift knobs that he had taken off any other boxsters or 911's. He has one off a 996 that he will sell me for $50.00. It is the newer style with the alluminum insert....

My recently purchased 1997 boxster does not have the wind deflector that sits between the two roll hoops. Is this something that is worthwhile getting? I already have the screens between the hoops....
