Do it on street tires would be my advice anyway. I did Phase 1 and Phase 2 on a set of star specs and the wear is really not too bad for a B Stock prep'd boxster.

I'm confused. An 05 S uses 235/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear (different from the 986S). So no, I would not do what they are asking you to do, there is no benefit other than a few more tire choices.

I think the engine and brakes put you in SSM, Super Street Modified. If the engine and brakes were from a Boxster/Cayman, you would be in ASP, A Street Prepared.

Why remove it when it works so well? I would definitely try charging it and if you aren't comfortable doing that, have a shop do it. I'm willing to bet thats all it needs.

I find the star specs work better than the RS3 on my 02 S. Neither is bad but the Star Spec will last longer and work in a much wider temp range. Plus they are tons better in the rain.
