confusion re. ims replace 986 vs 987

I have called 3 independent shops and they all claim the technique for replacing the ims on 986 and 987 engines are the same-same costs. this seems to run counter to forum opinions that have 987...

04 s with 27k had front crankshaft oil seal replaced(transmission dropped) and axle bearing replaced. are those repairs ims fixes?

ok, I think I found a car-boxster base,cpo,17kmiles,$$35,500..only options are 18"
wheels, hi discharge headlamps, winddeflector,heated seats. so they offer me a $11k on my 06 miata,19k miles. now...

can 08 boxster/cayman have LN ims ?

I've been reading where LN bearings can be a proactive fix for the ims problems. also been reading where the engine was somewhat changed in 05. can the proactive LN fix be used in 08 vintage cars?

which do you think is a better dd in the northeast-comfort,visibility,safety,etc. a 2009 boxster or 09 cayman? snow tires/wheels could be put on either.

I notice that folks keep their cars in garages under cover-why the cover?...second instead of a battery charger,why don't you start the car once or twice a week and let it run a little?
