Thanks for the reply. I found a local independent import shop that fortunately has a very good alignment rack. I decided to leave this one to the professionals.

It's an '01, non-S. Original ignition switch, fuses are AOK, no water inside. I'll check the ig switch; it's felt a little worn recently (to be expected, considering the miles).

Actually, there was no upgrade to the car involved. The OEM stock 986 pads that I took off (yes from 2001) had both Textar stamped and Brembo lettered on the back of the pads.

I replaced them...

I just changed the rear brake pads on my wife's '01 986. Big deal, right?

They were the OEM original pads. The car has 131,400 miles on it.

OK, admittedly it has only been on the track one...
