Found one other person who had it, and he had the alarm replaced under warrranty.
Rats.
It seems UK spec Box's have an alarm siren (rather than just the horn) with tilt sensors. Its this siren....

Yeh, thanks, but like I said in my original post...
Yeh, thanks, but like I said in my original post - its not the beep of the horn, its a chirp from the alarm speaker itself.

Well. The car turned up 2 weeks later. It has scratches all over the bodywork, but that seems to be about it. No damage to the locks or ignition barrell.
