Double cliuch, I had the same problem. My problem was totallly contaminated oil/ tanision grease. I changed the oil but the damage was done.

The key is dum as dirt. I'ts got a battery an a a "pill" that signals your immobiliser every thing is a'ok rhotught...

I've read several articals on this topic but there all pretty old. Most say the larget you can go on a 2000 is 3.4. I sound like the issue is the drive by-wire of 2002 and later and a 3.6...
