987 Cayman - too much engine/transmission noise in cabin

I'd like to reduce the amount of engine/mechanical/gearbox/induction noise in the cabin of my 2.7 987 Cayman so I can hear the exhaust a bit clearer.

I'm not sure where it's coming from - is it from behind the seats or above the engine?

Would soundproofing help or would that deaden the exhaust even more?

Thanks.

That's a common 987 quirk! The noise primarily comes through the rear firewall behind the seats - strategic soundproofing there should reduce mechanical drone while preserving your exhaust note.

You might want to check, if your 987 was de-snorkled.
That will cause massive induction sounds (coming from driver side, above engine).
I like it though
