2003+ side grill retention?

Looking to remove the slats from my 2001 side grilles but the grille section is also the inner retaining piece. Can anyone show me detailed photos of the the newer one piece grille retaining bits so that I may try to replicate them. Or if you’ve modified the inner piece to lose the slats on the pre 2003 piece and added grill material, how is removal of the part after being installed on the car?

Edit. Was supposed to be posted in Boxster discussion:confused:

I did this but elected not to adapt the 2003 inner brace to the vents as it did not fit over the bonded mesh I put in there.

When get acces to my parts I will post pictures of the 2003 inner workings.

I have had them in there with limited support. It is not ideal; vibrations caused breakage of bottom corner tab on the pass side. I am trying to work on support solution that still allows removal

This the 2003-4 configuration

When I added mesh I considered using the 2003 rear frame but the fit was too fiddly for me so I went brute force and did this:

and bent up the tabs on the opening to provide some support

Thanks jakay, I have a pretty good idea of what I’m going to do now. I’ll let you know when I’ve done it and how.
