986 Seats in a Cayman

Will seats from a 2002 986 Boxster work for an early Cayman?

I've head the electrical connections are different and I'm assuming there may be an issue with the mounting brackets matching up.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I moved race seats/mounts directly from my '06 cayman to my '98 boxster. Mechanically, you should be ok. I imagine the electrical connections might be different - I didn't look into that.

mounting should be fine. Electrical connections are definitely different and may not play nice.

Also remember that the side impact airbags on in the seats on the 987, whereas the 986 has them in the doors. So, if you put the 986 seats in a 987, you will lose the side impact bags, and will have to deal with "fooling" the airbag control module to think that there are airbags there (resistors) and dealing with the consequences to retain any airbag functionality.

I believe the 986 seat backs will appear too short no matter what you do.

Why even consider this? The Cayman seats are far superior, IMHO.

Just sayin'...............
