Wheel Offset question
Hi,
I am thinking of picking up a set of BSA 215a Eagle Rock wheels for my 2001 2.7L Tip. They come in 18x8 (50 offset) and 18x10 (40 offset) staggered sets, and I intend to use BGF KDW2 (aka NT) tires in 225/40R18 and 265/35R18 sizes. I've searched and read all the threads on wheel sizes, etc, but just want to get some final, definitive confirmation on my combination before taking the plunge. Could people with this offset and tire size confirm to me that this will work without rubbing or any other complication? Thanks, Ayan |
A 10", ET40 wheel is nearly one full inch closer to the outside fender than a stock 9", et 52 wheel.
I have seen boxsters with this fitment and they do fit without rubbing with most tires, but in my opinion it looks a bit funny. |
I am waiting to recieve my 993 hollow spokes, which are also 18x10 ET40 rear, so I will have input on how this fits as soon as I get them.

i run a 43mm offset (3mm further inside the fender than yours) with no problem. you SHOULD be okay. BTW, those KDW2's are great. don't last worth a crap, but they're really good tires.
|
Insite, do you run the 265/35 or the 285/30?
Patrick |
i've run both, but since my front wheels are only 7.5" wide w/ P225's, the P285's in back upset the balance of the car a bit. i run 265's now.

The set I'm waiting for has literally almost brand new Pzerro N4s on them, in turbo size with the 285/30 rear. I'd really prefer the 265/35 as I dont want anymore understeer, but given that these are brand new tires I'm inclined to throw them on and go for a drive and see how things are. I do have an 8 inch wide front, but I still think its too much meat out back.

Well, got the hollow spokes on the car. Everything fits, but I am certainly getting the correct rear size tire on soon (has 285/30s currently). I will say, I do have concerns of lowering the car in its current state.

Man, I really do need to get some skirts on that car and lower it a bit. GT3 front will be nice too.
Insite- Do you have any clearance problems with 18x10 ET43 and M030? Patrick |
gt3 side skirts
i saw some on 986online.com http://www.986online.com/cgi-local/forum/forum.cgi?num=1176523976/0#0

I've found that changing wheels to a different offset sometimes causes wheel bearing failure within 5000 miles.

Definitly agree on the suspicious comment. There are a variety of decent business people online to chose from.
