Straight answer for tire size

I have the 8 inch front and 10 inch rear rims.
What is the maximum size I can run on the boxster with these rims...with and with out the 15mm spacer.

Currently I have 225s on the front and 265's on the rear.

Chris

Id go a 235 and a 285.

Dohertycm 02-25-2007 06:58 PM

spacers

is that with or without the spacers?

Dohertycm 02-25-2007 07:01 PM

By the way

By the way Boggtown is that a GT3 front on your car? I have the GT3 as well...so my question is where did you get the grill to fit the nose....

You failed to mention what diameter your wheels are? 16, 17 or 18"?

boggtown 02-26-2007 06:42 AM

Diameter shouldnt matter. I put an aluminum mesh in after I cut it to shape and secured it with bondo glass. Id say without spacers because its generally getting the rim to fit is where you need spacers, but if it does rub a little on the inside strut, spacers would fix that.

Diameter

I have the 18x10" on the rear. The Sport Classic 2 wheels.

TriGem2k 02-26-2007 09:46 PM

If I remember correctly the Sport Classic 2 doesn't come in a 10" width. I could be wrong though. You might want to double check. I think its a 18X9

I think you are right - Looks like a 911 with FL plates to me.

Looks like a pre-964.. ie 1974-1989 911... looks like narrow bumper guards and a ducktail spoiler too???

Dohertycm 02-27-2007 06:59 PM

Good eyes

The Sport classics are 10's on the rear.

Yes that is my 1974 911 in the garage, it will now become a full time track car for me. It has the duck, and will go in to the shop on Friday for some engine mods.
I have a DE in Talladega in April so I need it ready...

boggtown 02-27-2007 07:08 PM

My favorite thing is a gutted interior 911. Are you gonna do custom door panels to cut more weight?

Beautiful car. I once had a ’74 911 Targa. It was a bucket, but when it ran, it was the best car I have ever driven.

Dammit

I just pulled my rears off and they are not 10's they are 9J'sx18....

I put 10's with 295/30's on and it would only fit if I put a 20mm spacer on it.
But it stuck out to far......

So,I guess we know that combo will not work....

What was the offset of the wheels you needed 20mm spacers for?

Dohertycm 03-01-2007 08:14 AM

spacers

the 20mm spacers are all we had in the garage at the time, everything else was larger.
The turbo twist wheels came from a 993 turbo...I think.
But I think I just need the right offset for the wheels...

Do you happen to know what that might be?

Infact...I might just use your car as a model for mine. I have the GT3 nose, the side skirts are coming....And the 285 wheels would be great for the track.

What is your rear wheel set up? and do you have any rub?

As far as the 911 goes, I just thought about gutting it out strictly for the track and with the new PCA rule, put some 5 point harness and seat combo in it.
I need to lighten the load!

boggtown 03-01-2007 08:25 AM

Ive got a 10.5 inch wheel with a 275 tire on. My rear offset is 52 and I use a 7mm spacer.
