Question Post Break-in Uncertainties: Performing Optimally?

I just passed the 2K mile break-in period the other day and stomped on it to visit the redline for the first time. Yowza, there's a whole different car lurking on the other side of 4K RPM. I had to wake up quick as I was fixated on the tach only to realize seconds later that the speedo went north of 90. If you want to stay within the speed limit and toy with the redline, they could reissue this car with only two gears....

Since this is my first and only Boxster, the question comes to mind of how do I know that the car is performing optimally? Everything is brand new so there are no wear issues, but how does one know that the engine is setup properly?

I'd had two "check engine light" episodes in the first 2K miles and I haven't had that looked into as both were 5 second episodes.

What criteria are people using to determine optimal performance? Thanx in advance.

My 06 also just broken in. Even though I didn't quite understand your question, but I do agree with there's a heaven on the other side of 4k rpm. (This is my second Boxster btw). For your CE episodes, I would at least talk to the dealer about it(2 means..more on the way). But i also understand you are too busy driving around and staring at her all night in the garage.

I would stop in at the dealer and have them check for any codes..... the MIL can come on for loads of reasons. Better safe then sorry.
