What Hardware Needed for 964 RS Mounts?
I’ve come across threads where people state that they have used the 964 RS rubber engine mounts as transmission mounts for their 986. However, I could not find anything about what hardware is needed for them. Does anyone know what additional parts are needed? I asked pelican and got an email stating they had never heard of that mod.
These the mounts I’m considering: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/96437504381KIT.htm?pn=964-375-043-81-KIT-INT&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwudexBhDKARIsAI-GWYWvAu0TFOG1dgkhg_9Ns-XP9YHa2hHIPuZ2E32GPG5_NYFXih3nCZcaAq5VEALw_wcB |

I went with PRG transmission mounts which are about the same price for a pair. https://www.prgproducts.com/product-page/porsche-boxster-caman-986-987-transmission-mount Just install them on your brackets and torque to 60 ft/lbs. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer. |
Thanks, I was looking at those as well. My concern is the polyurethane compressing or deforming. On the Rennlist forum, several users said the wevos and rennline ones would deform and get loose after not that long of use. Have you had a chance to check yours?
So I was thinking of going with rubber….but there are reports of the URO rs mounts also saggy, so….i don’t know what to think anymore. That said I did fit a complete RS kit offered by Rennpart for the 996 that I think will fit for $269 |
iirc the 911 mounts are used when you want to lower the engine (ie, engine swap). they have a longer bolt which allows for the use of spacers.

I think I’m going to give them a try. If the pucks compress is there enough thread to tighten them back up? I’m thinking any material (rubber or poly) will compress a bit.

"There is a crush sleeve, get the bolt tight, about 60lbs. The bolt torque has no relevance on the bushing preload. The bushings are set to a predetermined preload by the length of that sleeve. you could machine a longer or shorter crush sleeve if you wanted to try different settings " |
I decided to go with the rein replacement mounts and plan to poly fill the void around the bolts. Similar to a function first mount. There is a DIY on it for 997s. I'm waiting for my liftbars to arrive, so have some time to do it and let them dry.
I got the new mounts for $120 at rock auto. |
