modifying cats

Has anyone modified the second set of catalytic converters on a 00-04? I know that they can be replaced with the Fabspeed pipes, so I'm thinking of knocking the ceramics out of them so they flow staight through. Of course, polution at the end will increase. So will power and sound. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this yet.
