Oil Pump Remval - Engine in

Has anyone accomplished an oil pump removal and installation with the engine in the car without in turning into a big mess???? IIRC I think you can cut the gasket between it an the WP or I have done it already.

I want pull it to change out the hex drive will the oil is out..

I haven`t done this job with the engine in the car, only on the stand, but i think it`s doable, probably you will need to remove the motor mount and support the engine on a stand or suspend it from above using an engine support bar. To get to the pump gears you only need to remove the pump cover and not the entire pump housing, so you don`t have to cut any gasket.
