Today I did a leak-down test on the original engine that I just removed from my 2000 base. The instructions say that the engine is supposed to be warmed up which means that it will have oil on the cylinder walls and the pistons will be a bit tighter in the cylinders. I was getting unusual results on 3 cylinders, so... I poured a couple of ounces of oil into the 3 problematic cylinders, rotated the engine a couple of times and retook the readings. I ended up with this: (retained psi/input psi = difference in psi)
1) 88.5/90 = 1.5
2) 85/90 = 5 -after oil added
3) 89/90 = 1
4) 85/90 = 5 -after oil added
5) 89/90 = 1
6) 87.5/90 = 2.5 -after oil added
There is less than 5 psi difference between the cylinders so it should be OK... I hope...
