Rubber Under-Engine Scoops
 

One of the little rubber scoops on the belly of the car right behind the crankcase came undone and was dragging on the ground. It's come partially off before, and I guess sliding back on isn't enough to keep it on. Does anyone know 1- what this part is called for replacement (it got torn up a bit) and 2- what might be a good way to adhere it to the metal frame its attached to? Was thinking epoxy or even mounting tape.

Thanks for replying. Yeah it's not that one, it's one of two little rubber flaps that fit on the belly framework behind the crankcase and in the middle between the rear wheels. I would guess they scoop air towards the transmission to help cool it. I did a few searches but just calling them rubber 'vents' or 'scoops' didn't seem to find anything. I'll get a pic next time the car's up to better show where they are.

You don't want to glue it. It will be really hard to remove for maintenance or just get torn up when it needs to be removed. Get a replacement part and affix it the right way.

I know exactly which rubber part you mean, I was under my car changing plugs, Oil, and brake fluid last weekend and kept scraping my arm on it.

I checked the exploded views in my PET catalogue, and the part isn't listed or even shown. No part # to go on.

Agree with others that it's best to replace it rather than try to tack it back on some way, because it's most likely <$20, probably <$10.

Contact your local dealer and see what they say (and report back here). I can't imagine it's integral to the entire Rear Cover (PN#986.504.119.00 - $108) - the piece it's attached to, and not available separately. Good Luck!...

The rear Cover is $75 at Sunset, I just bought one.

My Local Dealer spent some time to find this. The new one comes with some pins to hold it in. Each side is about $28. I do not have a part # but call Brumos Porsche at 9047259155. Provide them with this quote #: Q72484. At this time they had one in Atlanta and several in Penn.

$28? $75? Ridiculous. Pfffffffffffffffft.

The scoops are $11.75 each. Need 2. Part # 986-331-361-03-M100

The retainers are $125 each. Need 2. Part # 999-507-774-40-M100

I'll be ordering mine this week.

Thanks Starter986. No one at Pelican knew what I was talking about. Wish I had this info before. So it's called an 'axle joint air guide'. And the retainer typo should be $1.25 ea.
