Vacuum lines

2 Attachment(s)
I'm in the middle of an engine swap. It's a 2002 S and the original engine and the new one differ in the vacuum system. One as you can see has a fitting at the end of the fuel rail while the other does not. I'm looking for some guidance and how to plumb this. I'll add the pictures shortly.

The 2002 engines have a different fuel sustem than the older ones. 2002 and later do not use the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator. Keep the fuel rail that was originally on the car.

Thanks for the info. That isn't covered in the manual, or I missed it.
I intended using the original, but I need to know how to connect the vacuum lines since I am unable to copy the setup from the other engine. The new one was a long block.

This thread has some pretty good info. You need vacuum for the SAI system and flapper valve.

If it's a Tiptronic, there's also a vacuum connection to a valve for transmission cooling.

Thanks, I'll take a look. It is a manual.
