Water Pump FYI

About a year ago I thought my water pump was going out. There was a strange noise coming from that side of the engine that I could not locate. Upon removal I found no problem. (ended up being the alternator) Since I had the pump out and I had a new one in hand, I thought I might as well change it. I had purchased a pump from a local parts store that I was working at part time and got an additional employee discount. 10,000 miles later this "new" pump failed and almost cost me an engine. Lesson learned. Only new OEM parts for my little German girl. It's not worth the risk.

Yep! Fortunately you didn’t lose the engine

Also, stay with plastic pump internals correct? I have read some horror stories of metal being evil.
