Now the engine is running I can work on some fun things. I got the dash/gauges working this week. It looks absolutely wild in person. Super happy the way it turned out. Definitely a racecar finish though, not up to street car quality but still cool.

The exhaust is finally done. The trunk is almost done (besides wrapping) and the new rear wing has been sent off to the water jet to be made. It’s coming together.

I love the 70s IMSA cars and I don’t car if tech has improved, it’s just too cool not to do. https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/p...a_mmthumb.jpeg |
So sick, thanks for sharing. Have you driven the car yet? How does it feel?!

Fantastic build and very interesting to follow up. Thanks for sharing

The throw-back IMSA wing is done! I’m super happy with it, the wing blade is off of a 911 Cup car that just happened to be the right length. I still need to cut the center attachment points off

Whew its been awhile but I finally got it out to a test and tune (AKA: drift event).
I went out to take it easy, being the first time I've driven the car with this engine, the limited tune, the unproven suspension etc etc but as always the red mist took over and it wasn't long before I was chasing drift cars and spinning it off into the gravel. It was 30 degrees and the Hoosiers were rock cold but the wow is this thing scary powerful. I can't wait to get it out on a real track. A buddy of mine made a quick video of the run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=i_vnMOY8x9c&feature=youtu.be http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1644193687.jpghttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1644193745.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1644194056.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1644194155.jpg |
Finally... I was starting to wonder what had happened to you and the car. Can't wait to see how it does at VIR. Thanks for the update.

How did the tranny handle? You still have the stock 5 speed in place right?

Test and tune round 2, this time at VIR. I was super nervous about driving this car at speed. It has so many unknowns, so many back yard engineering solutions I had no idea what to expect. I found an event that only had less than 15 people at theme (5 or so on track at the same time) so I thought it would be the perfect way to test the car out without running anyone else’s day. I had a few buddies come along as well, which you can see in the 11 second long video below. The car did perfectly with the exception of the clutch which you can hear in the video slipping constantly. Even with the slipping clutch is was able to walk away from my buddies 600hp M4.
