How hard is it to change headers?

Is it simlpy undue bolts and swap,or more complex then that? Its a 99'.

I would like to put Che's headers on my car but they aren't CARB Exempt so I would have to swap them myself every two years for smog. If it's a simply swap I will order them,if not....

I have never done Boxster headers, but I have done many other brands. One thing to be extra careful of is to not damage the exhaust head bolts, snapping one of them off will ruin your day in a hurry. Sometimes it's necessary to heat them with a torch but most times a good soaking with penetrant will do fine, good luck.

OhioBoxster didn't you have to remove your headers to install the supercharger?

can you attach che's headers to the stock exhaust? how much h.p will that give?

emissions......will this be a big problem, just by changing the headers on the stock exhaust?

sorry for the dumb questions....i have no knowlegde and really would like to keep my stock exhaust but would love the extra h.p

Hi,

I would stick with OEM. The Boxster is what it is. We've seen exhaust and SC mods, but not longterm. Remember, Porsche never forced the M96 engine in any itineration, what do they know that we don't...??

Why would you want to swap for a few HP? It doesn't make sense.

If you do go with it, every 2 years you have to up for a new set of exhaust gaskets as well... FYI...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
