Odd noise

I know I am fishing here. After the 2004 Boxster base sits for a week or ten days, on start up there is a thumping rhythmic sound, whap, whap, whap. This has happened twice in the last 3 months. The car is not throwing any codes. It’s not a metallic sound. If I shut it down and re-start, the noise goes away. Is this related to oil pressure? I thought it may be a small critter caught in the serpentine belt, but evidently not. The belt was replaced last November, the water pump pulley was fine. I use Mobil One 0-W-40 oil, and change once a year, every fall with less than 3,000 miles. I’m stumped. Anybody else experience this? Thanks, Mitch

Maybe record and post the sound here or on Youtube. Would go a long way to help diagnose the issue.

The problem is, it has only happened twice, otherwise the car runs fine.

I get that thumping rythmic sound... whap, whap, whap sound around 630 every morning. Mostly just the whap, whap, whap.

Actually it's more like whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap,whap, whap, whap.
