Oil cooler install help

The oil cooler has a vent line on the top of it, what is this connected to? My 2.5 didn’t have one.

As the oil cooler is the highest point in the cooling system, it tends to collect air bubbles, killing its heat transfer capabilities. Porsche figured this out after a year or so and all the later cars have a line running from that outlet to the coolant tank to allow the air to escape.

Thanks, so since it’s going onto a car that originally had a 2.5 in it I’m assuming I don’t have the right port on my expansion tank. P

my 99 had one. If you replaced your coolant tank, you might have one.

Awesome thanks guys, I got it. Going from a 2.5 to a 2.7 is not an easy task

If your original engine was a 1997, it had a tube coming from the oil pump housing on the front of the engine - metal tube that connected to a rubber hose somewhere near the right rear of the engine.

On the post-1997 cars that rubber hose connects to the top of the oil cooler (heat exchanger). If you look at the coolant tank, that hose is the top one directly under the oil filler.

YES! Thank you this is the other thing that has been completely stumping me (my last post was this very question. So I shouldn’t even need another line on my expansion tank.
